Meet Reckae White; Staff Accountant Supervisor for QB Team
Reckae has worked with BMG for one year–first as a staff accountant and was quickly promoted to Supervisor of the Quickbooks Team. She works remotely for the Northern Virginia location and lives on the beautiful island of Jamaica.
Reckae has worked in accounting for the past 11 years handling different clients’ accounts. She did bookkeeping and final accounts for businesses, who were widespread across several industries.
Then, she moved on to work in the accounting departments of beverage manufacturing entities. When the opportunity arose, Reckae was excited to join Bay Property Management Group, her first property management company! Some of her many responsibilities include:
- Supervise three accounting employees
- Checking the bank account and posting all entries that go through Northern Virginia’s account in Quickbooks
- Posting bills that need to be paid and sending reports
- Setting up new hires in the payroll system and completing payroll processing
- Posting credit card entries
- Handling 401k and healthcare-related matters
- Bank reconciliation
A Day in the Life
Each morning, Reckae checks on the three employees that she supervises. She then takes some time to check in on teams to ensure everything is ready for the day. Reckae strongly believes in employee well-being, and that productivity is better when employees are physically and mentally well.
After check-ins, she logs into her email and makes a list of tasks for the day. She ranks her tasks in order of importance and time sensitivity before starting with the most urgent, working her way toward the least urgent.
Why Reckae Loves Bay Property Management Group
Reckae’s favorite part of working at Bay Property Management Group is the team. Her team members are great and finish their work on time. She likes to encourage them at the start of each week with a motivational quote to prepare them for the week ahead. Reckae also ensures they have a weekly staff meeting to get together as a team, even though they’re not physically together.
According to Reckae, what sets Bay Property Management Group apart from other companies is the teamwork and how you can count on your teammates. She adds, “BMG managers are also very inspiring, respectful, and all amazing people to work with.”
Getting to Know Reckae Outside of the Office
- When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do? – “Watch sports. I’m a huge sports fan. I also like to listen to music, chill at home with my family, watch home & garden TV, and gameshows.”
- Tell us something off your bucket list – “I want to go to an Olympics Game, so I can witness first-hand when the Jamaican athletes are winning and not just see it on TV. I want to be there cheering.”
- If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you want to meet and why? – “Steve Harvey, for sure. I love his motivational speeches, and he is also very hilarious. I am also a big fan of his game show, Family Feud.”
- What is the best book you have ever read? – “30 Days to A Happier You by Rochelle Gapere.”
- If you could dis-invent one thing, what would it be? – “Firearms.”
- What are three words to describe yourself? – “Positive, resourceful, assertive.”
