Meet Kimmarie Spriggs, Leasing Agent

Kimmarie brings an extensive and varied background to her role at Bay Property Management Group. After studying cosmetology through the vocational program and working in the beauty industry for about 12 years, Kimmarie decided to take a Real Estate course. After becoming licensed and working in the industry for about three months, she realized she hated it. So, she decided to explore property management.

She applied for a leasing position, was hired immediately, and instantly flourished. Within a month, she was the top leasing agent and held that title throughout her entire employment with that company. During her career, she’s been blessed to have been promoted to every possible position of apartment management, including her last role of Senior Property Manager. Additionally, she’s managed all property types, including class D and new construction.

A Day in the Life of a Leasing Agent

Kimmarie is responsible for showing vacant and occupied properties and marketing properties to Craigslist. Additionally, she is responsible for generating leases, arranging move-in activities, conducting move-in inspections, and effectively communicating with owners, prospects, and colleagues to ensure she’s providing the best customer service. Her job is essential in showing others just how great Bay Management Group is and why they are the best management company to hire for all their rental home needs.

A typical day of work for Kimmarie starts with starting her computer and coffee maker at the same time. She checks her calendar and email for scheduled tours, meetings, and any unexpected urgent matters. Then, she engages with prospects, owners, and colleagues through emails and phone calls. Finally, she does one last check for new applications and any other paperwork that needs to be completed before heading out for scheduled tours, inspections, and any other errands concerning her assigned properties.

When asked what her favorite part of her job was, Kimmarie responded:

“I would have to say touring is my favorite part of my job. I love people and the art of the tour. It opens the mind to all the possibilities of living in that space. Not just where do I put my couch, but what memories can I experience here?”,

Something that surprised Kimmarie about working in this industry is the need to expect the unexpected, and to always announce yourself—even if you know a property is vacant. After all, strange things happen when people think nobody is looking. She’s seen everything from snakes coiled up under a baby’s crib to mysterious massage parlors operating in apartment units. However, she says that nothing could ever prepare you for finding your resident’s deceased body while conducting a wellness check. That’s really awful!

Why Kimmarie Loves Bay Property Management Group:

According to Kimmarie, what sets Bay Property Management Group apart is that we always stand by our policies and employees. This is not the standard at other companies. People really matter here.

Her best piece of advice for those considering this field is that you must like people. Unfortunately, one-word answers and no eye contact will not work in this industry. It’s not personable and it’s very uncomfortable. If this describes you, you may want to get a job requiring you to work in a cubicle all day with no human contact.
