Read on to discover all about Chelsea, her professional background, and what she enjoys most about working here at Bay Property Management Group.

Chelsea Lewis, Regional Property Manager

Chelsea’s the Regional Property Manager with Bay Property Management Group. She’s been with the company since May of 2016, bringing with her a total of 13 years of property management industry background. She got her start in the field not too long after high school, starting as a Front Desk Receptionist, then moving up to a Leasing Agent, Leasing Manager, Assistant Property Manager, Property Manager, and now her current role as Regional Property Manager.

A Day in the Life of Chelsea Lewis

As the Regional Property Manager for BMG, Chelsea oversees the property management department, which consists of six property managers, as well as our property manager administrator. She also works with two after-hours maintenance coordinators.

Chelsea likes to get into the office pretty early in the morning. The first thing she does is review the open maintenance requests. She takes a look at the pending requests, as well as any new ones that might have come in the night before. Once she’s finished with that, she checks and responds to emails. A lot of her time is spent meeting with different property managers, answering questions, discussing specific situations, and resolving issues. She also schedules conference calls with BMG’s owners and tenants if there’s a need to do so.

Depending on the day, Chelsea might have to run and review reports. She’s almost always updating spreadsheets with information and keeping track of projects the team is working on.

Once Chelsea’s day at the office is finished, she’s available in the evenings or at night to help assist the after-hours maintenance coordinators, should they need help with anything.

Why Chelsea Loves Being Part of the BMG Team

Chelsea loves interacting with people. She says everyone at BMG feels like family, so she loves coming to work each day and sharing her days with the team. She also enjoys getting to know BMG’s clients and customers. She says they work with so many different people, and it’s nice to build a relationship with each and every one of them.

Chelsea enjoys learning new things and furthering her knowledge of the property management industry. Before coming to BMG, she’d never worked in third-party property management. She says she’s learned so much at BMG and truly feels as though she’s learning something new almost daily.

What Sets BMG Apart from Other Property Management Companies, According to Chelsea

The people! Chelsea insists that everyone at BMG brings so much knowledge and experience to the table. The property management department alone has over 50 years in the industry.

A lot of BMG’s clients aren’t familiar with property management, and the team knows that owning a rental property can be a little intimidating. That’s why she’s proud of the fact that the BMG team truly knows it all, from leasing and maintenance to the day-to-day of property management, and even the accounting side of things. She says customer service is really important to the BMG team, and she’s proud that it shows to the company’s clients and tenants.

Chelsea’s Advice for Those Considering Entering the Property Management Field

Don’t take things personally. In property management, you really are a problem solver. People are going to come to you with their problems and expect you to resolve them. A lot of times, you’ll find yourself dealing with someone who’s upset and frustrated. You may even feel as though they’re attacking you. Keep in mind, that’s usually not the case; people are upset over situations, but they rarely hold you responsible for the issue itself.

Outside of BMG

Spending time with her husband and family is Chelsea’s favorite thing to do. When they can get away, she and her husband enjoy camping. They try to take as many camping trips as possible. On the other hand, she says, watching a movie and hanging out on the couch with her dog is a close second!
