Meet Nick Wachter, Controller for Bay Property Management Group
Nick’s professional career brings a wealth of accounting and operational experience to his position at Bay Management Group. He has a degree from CCBC and is pursuing a B.S. in Accounting from UMUC. His previous work experience includes 18 years with B. Von Paris & Sons in such roles as a staff accountant, operations, and sales. Nick joined the BMG team in 2016 as a Staff Accountant before his hard work and dedication led him to accept the position of Controller in 2019.
A Day in the Life of the Controller
Nick is responsible for various accounting operations, including supervising and monitoring the performance of half a dozen team members. His days are busy overseeing cumulative financial, banking, and cash flow operations at the corporate level for all BMG offices. Nick occupies roughly a third of his time tending to various accounts and numerous reports. The remainder of his day is spent handling other pressing matters while providing guidance both within and outside the accounting department.
When asked what his favorite part of the job was, Nick responded –
“The analytical, logical aspect – everything comes down to entries and dollars and cents.”

Getting to Know Nick Outside of Bay Property Management Group
When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do? Work in my yard and around my property on gardening, DIY, and home improvement tasks. I also enjoy hiking, camping, and overnight road trips. Currently saving up for a camper!
What is something off your bucket list? Visit every major league baseball ballpark.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you want to meet and why? Winston Churchill – a brilliant mind, unflappable courage, powerful gift for oratory and rhetoric, and an inspiring leader. Yet, he knew how to unwind and seemed like he would be a down-to-earth guy to kick back and chat about “normal” stuff.
What is the best book you have ever read? The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien and The Second World War by John Keegan
If you could dis-invent one thing, what would it be? Fancy, overelaborate wine openers that always fail to work as well as an old-fashioned tool.
