Behind the Scenes with Timothy Johnson
Tim’s journey at BMG started as a cleaner before stepping into his current role. But his professional background spans over 30 years in the rental and property management industry. In addition to his experience as a small business owner of a cleaning company for two decades, he’s also held management positions at other corporate entities. These include positions at Marriott, USG&G, Roland Park Condominiums, as well as Maintenance coordinator at Sunrise Senior Living, Maintenance supervisor at Shops at Kenilworth and for the State of Maryland.
His expertise has not gone unnoticed—in fact, he’s earned numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career, including:
- Supervisor of the Year at Marriott
- Manager of the Year at USG&G
- Sunrise Senior Living’s Best Property Manager of over 400 properties, where he simultaneously earned the President’s and Skipjack Award—a first for any single property.
- On top of that, his staff honored him with an Elite Citizen’s Watch for Best Manager, which remains one of his proudest moments.
A Day in the Life of the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor
A typical day for Tim begins bright and early at 7:00 AM. He spends his day turning vacant units to ensure they are move-in ready, checking properties for cleanliness, addressing maintenance concerns, or repairing any signs of damage. Additionally, as the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor, Tim manages maintenance repair orders, and coordinates with contractors and delivery personnel for installations.
His favorite part of the job is making sure new residents feel welcome. “I want them to feel like they’re walking into a brand-new space, as if they’re the first ones to live there. My goal is zero complaints—just satisfaction.” While the role requires precision and attention to detail, Tim wishes people knew just how much effort goes into ensuring every resident has a smooth, issue-free move-in experience.

Getting to Know Tim Outside of Work
Apart from work, Tim enjoys an active and fulfilling life. He loves going to the movies, playing chess and basketball, working out at the gym, and most importantly, spending quality time with his awesome grandson, TJ. His adventurous spirit has also crossed a few items off his bucket list, including white water rafting and fly fishing.
