Meet Emma Loftus, Director of Leasing
Emma brings an extensive and varied background to her role at Bay Property Management Group. After attending Marlboro College, where she studied cultural history and Middle East studies, Emma worked in nonprofit development. Additionally, she utilized her skills in fundraising, grant writing, and working with donors to meet the needs of their city. After living in Vermont, Seattle, and now Baltimore – Baltimore is her favorite city yet! Emma started with Bay Property Management Group as a leasing agent, further honing her experience and stellar customer service skills before accepting the Director of Leasing position several months ago.
A Day in the Life of the Director of Leasing
Emma has many roles but primarily oversees the leasing department to ensure that all properties lease efficiently, and we find the perfect fit for each home. Her days are consumed by marketing preparation, research, strategizing with agents, and spreadsheets – lots of spreadsheets. She uses all tools at her disposal to highlight properties and make them stand out to catch the eyes of potential renters. When asked what her favorite part of her job was, Emma responded:
“Hands down being a part of the process that gets people into their new home – a space that they will enjoy and live their lives in. And working with our amazing team of agents.”

When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do?
- Hike with my dog, climb at EarthTreks, camp, travel, spend entire days at museums, visit my sisters in New York, read outside in different parts of our beautiful city, try new restaurants/bars, and generally waste tons of time with my friends.
Name something off your bucket list.
- Sail the Nile River from Aswan to Luxor, Egypt.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you want to meet and why?
- Hedy Lamarr. I’d be fascinated to know how a person becomes as dynamic as she was, as she was inventing complex technologies while navigating fame from her acting and performing.
What is the best book you have ever read?
- All That is Solid Melts Into Air by Marshall Behrman. Suitable for anyone interested in modernization, industrialization, and their social and economic impacts in an urban context.
If you could dis-invent one thing, what would it be?
- I’ll go with the obvious one – smartphones.
What are three words to describe yourself?
- Calm
