Meet Chris Riggs, Property Manager
Chris brings an extensive background in real estate to his role at Bay Property Management Group. Chris grew up in the Midwest but studied International Relations at American University in Washington DC. After coming here for school, Chris liked the East Coast so much that he stayed! He spent some time working as a Congressional staffer and became a researcher before entering the real estate industry. Chris joined BMG six months ago after nearly 20 years working for PPM.
A Day in the Life of a Property Manager
For a property manager, their work is never done. In fact, property managers are the nexus of communication between homeowners, tenants, associations and communities, contractors, and others. It’s a lot to oversee! Every day is a little different for Chris, and he must remain proactive to be successful in his role. When asked what his favorite part of his job was, Chris responded:
“Problem-solving is a big part of a property manager’s skills. Finding the right solution can be quite gratifying.”

Getting to Know Chris Outside of the Office
When you’re not in the office, what do you like to do? – I’m a singer in my spare time with 2-3 Washington area choral groups. In the past, I’ve also taught ESL classes and built houses through Habitat for Humanity.
What is something off of your bucket list? – Take a boat trip to Ball’s Pyramid. Check it out!
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you want to meet and why? – My immigrant Irish ancestor. The records aren’t clear of his early life and origins.
What is the best book you have ever read? – There are too many good ones… How about The Discoverers by Daniel J. Boorstin and The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
If you could dis-invent one thing, what would it be? – There’s a very blurred line between news and entertainment nowadays. So maybe everyone should cut down on social media?
